What does a garden have to do with jazz? More than you’d think.

Join Brett, head gardener at ONS, for a morning talk in the ONS garden — one of Prince Albert’s most quietly beautiful spaces — as the day is still cool and the light is clean and sharp. Brett will take you through the surprising connections between the mathematics of nature, the geometry of a well-made garden, and the structure of jazz itself. Fibonacci sequences, improvisation, growth patterns and groove: it turns out the natural world and a good jazz quartet have more in common than anyone lets on.

The talk will be accompanied by jazz recordings, so arrive with your coffee, settle into the garden, and let the morning unfold at its own pace.
