The Fabric of a Place: Frances vH Mohair Studio Tour

1 May 2026 10:00

R200

In a studio on Christina de Wit Street, something remarkable has been made. Frances vH Mohair — a women-led textile studio rooted in the Karoo — has spent the past months working with six young people from the community to weave over 200 hand-woven mohair festival bracelets and create the costumes for Prince Albert’s riel dancers, from scratch, by hand, with mohair, ostrich feathers, and offcuts from one of South Africa’s greatest fashion designers.

Join a studio tour to see the process in action, meet the women artisans behind the work, and — if the stars align — encounter the riel dancers themselves. This is craft, community, and storytelling in one room. It is not to be missed.

“Sommer maar net fabulous.”
