Tribe

Tribe is a jazz quartet formed by some of South Africa’s most accomplished musicians, each an established player and session artist in their own right. United by a shared passion for improvisation and musical expression, Tribe has earned critical acclaim both locally and internationally, bringing jazz into diverse spaces—including club venues—where they have captivated new and younger audiences. Their sound blends deep-rooted jazz traditions with contemporary influences, making them a standout force in South African jazz.

The original quartet comprised Kesivan Naidoo (drums), Charles Lazar (bass), Mark Fransman (piano) and Buddy Wells (saxophone). In this rendition, energetic and enigmatic bassist Stephen de Souza, will step in for Charles Lazar for this exciting dynamic gathering, as the original members play together for the first time in 25 years!
