Paolo Damiani Last Land Band (Italy)

Paolo Damiani and Antonio Jasevoli have been playing and recording together for some time; an unlikely meeting on paper, the two usually move in very different fields – the double bass player (Damiani) has invented an original and European language, moving jazz aesthetics into non-traditional contexts, and the guitarist (Jasevoli), has developed the great lesson of the best Rock sounds (Cream, Hendrix, Beck…).  Progressing through the knowledge and practice of the language of jazz and classical music, each has created very personal poetics that cross different territories. Yet together, they manage to imagine new scenarios and connections, intuitive paths in which to seek affinity and contiguity.

In this new project, Last Land, they have involved Elena Paparusso, one of the most exciting voices of Italian jazz, capable of moving easily in the lands of song, as well as experimentation.

Through LAND/earth, the Journey to Jazz performance will traverse territories that are formed in common research and listening, exploring all iterations of Earth; as home, as mother earth, as our traditions, as the traditions of all peoples, earth as humanity and as a primitive and ancestral place, earth as a future and futuristic place, and earth as a base for launching oneself into infinite space…in ‘air…and infinite possibilities.
